The magic of the FA cup

hello everybody,

In today's blog im going to talk about the FA cup, now for those of you that don't know what it is, it is a knockout competition which any english club can enter ( even your local sunday league teams) and was first introduced in 1871. Now for any die hard football fan, the FA cup means a lot to them but in recent times it seems to have lost people's interest. For Example, Wigan played Hull in which I believe was the 3rd round, now these are 2 premier league sides playing and yet the attendance was shocking, only 5335 people turned up, this is absolutely horrendous and although the tickets were £30 thats still relevitely cheap for a premiership match so i believe people missed out there, but it just goes ot show how much a matter of months can make because the final of the FA cup last year was between Chelsea and Everton and although they are bigger teams financially, they are still two premier league teams just like Wigan and Hull, the attendance on "final day" was 89,391. Now that is a huge difference and it upsets me to see this because the FA cup means a lot and its the only trophy in the country ( possibly world) that can put a sunday league team up against a premier league team and the history is just amazing.

well i'll leave it there
Thanks for reading

  1. I don't care about football, but you've convinced me that this is a shame. The FA Cup deserves better! They support the underdogs of football, and that's a wonderful thing.
